The polymer plant in Gyyanly was put into operation on October 17, 2018 and is designed to process 5 billion m3 of natural gas per year and produce 386 thousand tons of 8 types of polyethylene and 81 thousand tons of polypropylene of high quality and compliance with international standards.
To implement the project, innovative technologies from the world's leading companies are used for the first time.
The polymer plant in Gyyanly consists of 4 large production facilities interconnected.
1. Gas distribution plant
2. Gas cracking plant
3. Polyethylene plant
4. Polypropylene production
In addition, general plant and auxiliary facilities are also provided to ensure the full and proper functioning of production facilities.
Plant for desalination, desalination and desalination of sea water
Steam generation system
Nitrogen and fresh air generator
Device that produces electricity
Sewage treatment plants
The gas separation unit is designed to purify natural gas from the main gas pipeline from mechanical waste, dry it and separate it into separate fractions. Heavy gas fractions, namely ethane, propane, butane and pentane gases, are supplied as feedstock to the plant's gas cracking unit.
In a gas cracker, heavy hydrocarbon feedstocks such as ethane, propane, butane, pentane are separated into hydrocarbon compounds at a high temperature of 850 °C in a cracking furnace. Ethylene, propylene and hydrogen gases, which are the main raw materials in production, are accepted and sent to production facilities producing polyethylene and polypropylene.
In on-site polymerization reactors, using specially designed catalysts, ethylene is converted into polyethylene and propylene into polypropylene powder and sent to the extruder building, where high-temperature steam and oil are heated to form pellets. Finished products are packaged in bags of different sizes and sent by rail, land and sea transport in any direction.
