Turkmenabat chemical plant named after S.A. Niyazov

Turkmenabat chemical plant named after S.A. Niyazov is an only production facility in Turkmenistan to manufacture phosphate fertilizers necessary for increase in the yield of cotton, grain and other agricultural crops. It was launched into operation in 1960 for supply of republics of Central Asia with mineral fertilizers. The same year the first workshop of the enterprise for production of sulphuric acid was commissioned. In April, 1961 the unit for production of simple superphosphate with a capacity of 247 000 tons a year was launched into operation.

With a lapse of time here technologies of production of other types of production as well as such combined fertilizers as ammophos and ammonium phosphate were developed and introduced. For example, in 1967 a production lien for ammoniated superphosphate with an annual capacity of 350 000 tons was launched into operation. With a view to meet the demand for industrial and medically pure oxygen in 1966 the unit for production of oxygen gas was commissioned. In 1971 the workshop for production of polyethylene goods started to work. In 1980 the industrial lien for production of ammophos with an annual capacity of 157, 9 00 tons and extraction phosphoric acid was commissioned into operation. In 1987 the production lien for ammophos was restructured for production of ammonium phosphate.

In the years of independence at the plant production of new types of phosphate fertilizers was adjusted. In 1994 the technology of production of ammonium sulphate was developed at the plant.

With a view of reduction of expenditures on import of raw materials (ground phosphate rock) in 1997 the engineering personnel of the plant developed the technology of production of ammonium superphosphate. This mineral fertilizer is still the main type of production at the plant.

With a view of expansion of assortment of mineral fertilizers in 1999 the technology of production of organic fertilizers was developed.

The pant also developed the technology of production of fertilizer ameliorator by the method of processing of phosphogypsum available at the enterprise.

For ensuring of production of phosphorus fertilizers as well as sulphuric acid for other consumers of Turkmenistan in 2016 a new workshop for production of sulphuric acid with an annual capacity of 500 000 tons was launched into exploitation.

Employees of the enterprise never stop at what has been accomplished. Here the technology of production of granular ammonium superphosphate the composition of which in addition to phosphate and nitrogen also contains sulphur was developed. From year to year the production volume of ammonium superphosphate grows.

At present, the plant produces the following assortment of chemical goods:

- ammonium superphosphate;

- sulphuric acid;

- fertilizer ameliorant;

- oxyhumate;

- aluminium sulphate (coagulant);

- oxygen;

 - polymer goods (polyethylene pipes, films, and others).
